hi i read the above letter and i can agree completely-i live in NE Ohio now but i lived at gulfstream in 2006 and 2007...it was rediculous tryin to find a parking spot at noght b/c all these mexican bastards had like a million cars for a one bdrm apt...i just wanted to flip the fu** out on them but how could i when they dont even speak english...oh and if youre one day late on rent they'll charge 100DOLLARS!!!who does that?sickenening...i mean it would seem that big of a deal but seriously they have like 900 apts in there-thats already enough motherfucking money...anyways me and my boyfriend moved out of our 2nd apt in there(1st was a 2 bd,then a 1 bdrm)but we had o move out because we hated it there and was not going to stay an extra 6-7 months?..so they charged us like $6,000 or something b/c we broke the lease...wtf!!>??? we alreday lost out on a huge damn deposit...over $1000 already....dont go there it sucks!!!and smells like shit-esp with the damn nursing home at the end of the complex(1st apt was near that but facing labcorp)

Worst Apartment Experiences To Date

For starters, the only reason I live here is because it's right across the street from where I work. However, over the past year I have been given much to reconsider the fact that it's simply not worth it. Below are some of the many issues I've had here, just the ones that are coming to mind off the top of my head at this point:

1. I have 3 friends who are police officers and all of them had informed me that this apartment complex had been a target area for criminal activity, primarily break-ins. I have also personally dealt with my car having been stolen, which seems to be becoming more and more common in this complex.
2. Their landscapers will come as early as 6:45am using leaf blowers and weed whackers which will unquestionably wake you up. I have complained to the management about it several times and so have others. They assure us each time it will be taken care of, which obviously it never has been considering it's been going on since I moved here which has been over a year now, which brings me to #3 here...
3. Nobody that works for the complex actually takes care of any matters without having to address them to the people at least twice. If you put in a work order, I guarantee if you call them the next day, they will have no record of your work order. The people that work here are very friendly, but in all actuality they don't care in the least bit and show it through their actions, though they'll be the sweetest thing while they're talking to you.
4. I have heard that the majority of people who leave here not only lose their deposit, but they'll also charge you more for just about anything they can find a reason to charge you for. I know of someone who was charged because the apartments roof leaked and damaged the carpet. Despite the fact that the tenant had a record of this (which of course gulfstream claimed to have no record of), they still charged him over $300 and sent it to a collector when he refused to pay!
5. The management kept ranting and had signs everywhere about how they were making a fitness center at our complex, which sounded nice. However, it took about 6 months longer for them to finish it than when they said they would. Then to make it even worse, once they did open it, they only had it open for their office hours until 6pm! Finally after enough complaints about that, they now give you the choice to get a scannable card to bring there to get in, but they charge you $25 just to use it! Then if you don't give it back before you leave the complex, they charge you an additional $50! Just a complete and utter scam for them to suck more money out of your pocket.
6. An example of how bad the management here is... about a year ago, several employees (at least 4) all walked out at the same time. Seems like they treat the employees about as bad, if not worse, than they do us. They have an extremely high turnover still to date, yet they still have the same management running the place! Where are the owners' God only knows, because if you ask management to speak to the corporate offices and someone higher up, they will not provide you with a number but merely relay a message to you from them, which I would imagine more likely than not is simply made up by them.
7. Drug deals happen on a regular occurrence at night right in our parking lot. There are also many sketchy people who wander around our parking lots at night. For a single woman, it's an extremely unsafe area to live in.
8. If you leave a bag of garbage outside your door for more than an hour, I guarantee you they will put a notice up on your door threatening to fine you (or they sometimes will actually try to fine you). However though they do this to us, they will leave all kinds of things lying all around the complex themselves. When redoing some roofs at one point, not only were there tiles strewn all around the parking lot for days, but also nails that they pulled from the roof were lying all over!!! I STILL think there are some lying around in the bushes to date! They've also left things lying in the parking lot like carpet as well. So it's ok for them to leave things lying around in the parking lot and on the property for days, but god forbid you have your garbage out in front of your door for more than an hour!
9. When getting my high-speed cable hooked up, when the worker from comcast came down, it took him over an hour to get it set up. The wiring in this building was not done correctly and I didn't have the wires properly hooked up in my apartment! He indicated to me that the management should have schematics of the buildings that would let him know what he needed to do, but none of them had any clue whatsoever and were completely worthless. The comcast employee ended up having to go up to the 3rd floor and actually splice their wire just for me to get a connection! How can you have wiring done in your own building and have no record of it'!
All in all, I wouldn't say this is the absolute worst experience I've had in an apartment complex, but it's the second worst. I would absolutely NOT recommend this place to anyone. There's just far too many issues, of which the management here will NEVER take care of for you, though they will say anything they need to in order to make you believe that.

Yeah, I am well aware of the crappy way renters are treated at GSI. I rented there 6 years ago. I signed a 7-month lease, moved in the beginning of September, started house hunting late in February (that was my intention, hence the short-term lease), paid my rent on time, okay, round about the beginning of March they started putting notices at my door about renewing my lease which would expire the end of March, (yes, the math works out, September to March is 7 months), I found myself a condo that I loved, signed the papers, made the phone calls, etc, etc.....gave my written notice on or about February 21st, all seemed well with the world...NOT, all of a sudden I get this phone call that I had to pay all of the expected rent until the "legal" expiration date, which according to office brains, was May 1.......uh, no, sez I, do the math, September to March is 7 months, I had a closing date of March 26th, which I planned on moving my things over to the new place at a nice slow pace....spent most of that time arguing, the paper I had with MY name in ink said the lease expired March 31...they claimed not, that seven months meant 7 calender months, not lunar months (nothing is making sense at this point) I then threatened to call Mel at the News Press, AND several news channels, it could make an interesting story. GSI finally relinquished, however, about 2 months after I moved out (gladly), I get a threatening letter from some fancy schmansy attorney regarding the "debris" I left in the apartment (to be specific: a half roll of toilet paper in the john and a note left for the management on the kitchen countertop) and because of this, my deposit was never returned and I was to IMMEDIATELY remit the balance left that it cost them to clean the place up (don't they have to do that anyway?) I fought like mad and waited to play my trump card until last and that was a video tape of the apartment the day I removed my last personal item. Never heard another word from them. What a bunch of assholes!!!!!!!!

My Electric Bill is Outrageous!!!!!!

Hey everyone. I wanted to get some feedback on how bad everyone elses electric bill is in Gulfstream Isles? During these hot months, because my a/c is in such poor shape, my electric bill is constantly over $200.00 a month!!! As if that is not bad enough, the temperature will not go below 80 because the unit is so shitty!

So i have the choice of either not using my air in 100 degree weather, or just dealing with $200.00 a month bills in 80 degrees. LOL, this place sux.

Any feedback would be nice. What is everyone else paying in electric because of the a/c?

For god sakes, don't submit yourself to the torcher of living in GulfStream Isles and Especially coming face to face with Vicki. You may be reading this and asking, why the hostility. On that dreaded day, when you meet this person, all your questions will be fullfilled.

Newspaper on Sunday? (you sure?)

It was a Sunday like any other, bright....Laundry.....Possibly lay by the pool and OH maybe have a cup of coffee and get a paper. WRONG!! I went down to the pool to by a newspaper and on Sundays it costs $1.50 I put in $1.50 and come to my surprise the newspaper stand seemed to be jammed. I went back and put another quarter in and still...No luck. I decided to go to the front office and notify them so I could get my $1.50 back. I asked Phillip and he said to me "ummm hmmmm.....yea.....ahhhh.....I'm not sure there's anything we can do for you, let me ask though." So, I calmly waited while he asked Vikki Buck if I could be reimbursed. Of course, she immediately interrupted Phillip and promptly said, "absolutely not." He came out to tell me and after I left I realized how ridiculous this place really is. I mean seriously, $1.50 is all I was asking for and they told me I needed to call the NewsPress because it was their stand. But wait...It's on Gulfstream's property. So, aren't they supposed to be responsible? Of course not. Gulfstream Isles has absolutely no sense of customer service what so ever!! I WANT MY $1.50!!!!!

The Orange Sticker

I have to comment on how lovely Gulfstreams tactics are on marking out cars that have sit in the same spot for more than 3 days. Lets say that, you were on vacation, or maybe just relaxing in your apartment for several days. You come out to your car, and notice a BRIGHT ORANGE 6 by 9 sitcker on your windshield. You know, the kind of sticker that you need a gallon of gasoline for to remove. O, its great. Whats even more great, is they put in right in your view of driving, so, in order to drive your car without driving off the road, you HAVE to remove the sticker. Common sense would tell you, the owner of that car is gonna be pissed off. Yea, maybe there are some cars that need to be towed because they are broken down, and have been sitting in the same spot for a month. But, come on. Is the staff that dumb, no, seriously?
